On April 12th, 2023 around 18:30 Pueblo County Sheriff Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) Fire Team was dispatched to the area of Hwy. 10 and Whiterock Rd. in the southeast part of Pueblo County for a reported brush fire. Callers reported a brush fire was burning near a vacant house and starting to threaten it. Mutual-aid was provided by Fowler Rural Fire Protection District due to their proximity to the fire. While still enroute units were informed that the fire had moved into some trees and was actively burning in them. The caller advised the fire was likely started by a downed power line and it was unknown if the line was still energized. Fowler 601 arrived with the first in units and sized up appropriately 1/4 acre burning mainly in trees not threatening the house. As the remainder of crews arrived on scene and began mop up units from both Pueblo and Otero counties were cancelled as units on scene were able to handle. Firefighters quickly mopped up and had to fall one tree to handle burning inside and near the top of the tree. Additional information provided by Code 4 Photography
