Pueblo County I-25 Semi Fire

On April 11th, 2023 just before 20:00 Rye Fire Protection District responded to a commercial carrier fire on I-25 northbound near mile marker 79. Reports from callers into Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center reported a fully involved semi tractor pulling scrap metal. The semi driver reported having just filled up with 200 gallons of diesel adding to the complexity of the fire. The fire quickly spread to the brush on the roadside as crews were responding. Mutual aid was requested from the Pueblo County Sheriff Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) Fire Team. Firefighters were on scene for just over an hour extinguishing the fire and all the hot spots on the truck and the brush fire was held to a small area on the shoulder.
