West Metro Attic Fire
On November 20th, 2023 at 23:16 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 1400 block of Ingalls St. in Lakewood. Medic 11 arrived to a working fire from the attic with smoke showing from a small one-story single-family home and Engine 1 pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack with Medic 11. Engine 3 established the water supply to Engine 1, Tower 2 assigned as the primary search. Engine 2 assisted with fire attack and Tower 2 started the primary search. The occupants were able to get out before crews arrived but three dogs were still inside. Crews were able to locate and rescue the dogs. District 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy with crews working a large fire in the attic space. Tower 8 arrived and assigned as RIT and Medic 17 with patient care on the Alpha side. Command requested additional medic to the scene. The fire was put under control at 23:26 and crews worked an extensive overhaul. One resident was transported to the hospital by Medic 17 with possible smoke exposure. West Metro investigator says the fire was caused by an electrical issue in the attic. The structure had extensive damage and is likely a total loss.
