Adams County House Fire

On January 3rd, 2024 at 02:15 Adams County Fire Rescue and Westminster Fire Department responded to a reported house on fire in the 2600 block of W. 80th Ave. in Sherrelwood. Truck 11 arrived to a single-story single-family with smoke showing and pulled a pre-connect to the Bravo side for fire control. Engine 1 arrived and secured the water supply and then started primary search and fire control with Medic 1. Engine 2 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 1 for primary search and fire control with Medic 2 to the Alpha side. Battalion 1 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy with  amajor incident tone and requested two additional engines and one medic to the scene. Medic 41 arrived and assigned as rehab. The fire was put under control and crews started overhaul and the investigation. The fire was caused by a burglary suspect that entered the home and started the fire in the basement which left the suspect injured and was transported to a local hospital by Medic 2. Two dogs passed away in the fire and it was reported that five people were displaced. Additional information provided by Adams County Fire Rescue
