On May 25th, 2024 Arvada Fire Protection District held a retirement ceremony for “Firehouse Dog” Molly at Station 2. The ceremony started off with the Arvada Honor Guard presenting the Presentation of the Flag and then Capt. Mike Kulp welcome everyone to the ceremony. Firefighter Frank Lonardo and Division Chief Deanna Harrington and others presented gifts to Molly including a badge, challenge coin, shadow box and more. Other speakers were Tim McChesney, Scott Johnson-Meyers, Capt. Donny Varra and Terri Krieger-Heaney, who has taken care of Molly with stopping by the station to take her for walks. Terri adopted Molly, and she will now live with Terri at her home in the neighbor and enjoy her retirement watching the rabbits in the front yard. Molly came to Arvada Station 2 in 2012 as the official fire dog for the station and enjoyed going to events and more with the department. Molly has touched the hearts of so many firefighters and the community over the years.
