Aurora Apartment Fire
On December 23rd, 2024 at 00:36 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire at 12170 E. 30th Ave. at the Abrigo Apartments. Dispatched advised that Aurora Police on scene reporting fire showing and started evacuations and the call was upgraded to a confirmed working structure fire. Engine 2 arrived with fire from the 3rd floor and pulled a line in for fire attack with Engine 3 and Ladder 2 started search. The call was upgraded to a 2nd alarm for more resources. The occupant of the fire unit was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and was put into custody for intentionally setting his own apartment on fire, and was charged with arson. Two residents of the apartment below the primary unit were displaced as a result of water damage and one dog died from the unit that was on fire. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
