Aurora Basement Fire

On November 23rd, 2024 at 08:45 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to the 19800 block of E. 59th Ave. for a possible structure fire. Dispatch advised that single caller reporting fire in the basement and Battalion 1 requested a upgrade structure response due to the location. Ladder 16 arrived to a two-story single-family residence with smoke showing from the Charlie side and started search/vent with Engine 12 securing the water supply and Engine 16 pulled a line in for fire attack. Firefighters with emergency radio traffic found the main floor of the house getting soft and a withdraw was requested and all crews backed out of the structure. Crews were able to get the fire put under control and start overhaul. All occupants were awakened by smoke detectors and quickly evacuated.  No reported injuries and the cause is under investigation. The American Red Cross has been requested to assist the family.
