On December 14th, 2024 at 20:08 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire in the 24200 block of E. Ohio Drive in Murphy Creek. Crews arrived to a two-story single-family home with heavy fire showing and pulled a 2 1/2 to the Charlie side for fire attack. Firefighters fought active fire on all three levels and due to the fire’s intensity, the back corner of the two-story house next door also caught fire, requiring manpower to not only focus on the primary home but also work to contain the exposure of the second home to prevent further damage. A family of five, including a newborn baby, were able to evacuate the primary home prior to fire crews’ arrival. The fire was caused by a propane grill, when the grill burst into flames after cooking. The residents of the home next door were able to evacuate safely also. American Red Cross was also requested.
