Aurora Vehicle into House

On November 24th, 2024 at 21:45 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to reported vehicle into building near the intersection of N. Vaughn St. and N. Uvalda St. in Hoffman Heights. Crews arrived to find a SUV that left the road and drove into another vehicle parked in front of a house at 700 N. Zion St. The impact caused the parked vehicle to crash into the house, causing significant damage including the rupture of the home’s gas meter. There was no shutoff valve so the gas was venting inside the home. The driver of the SUV fled the scene and no one inside the home was injured. The Technical Rescue team was requested. Two houses to the east and west were evacuated while Xcel’s emergency response crews were called to fix the ruptured line. The American Red Cross was activated to assist the family since they were not able to return home. Aurora Police Department is investigating the crash.
