Evan Dunn Memorial

A private celebration of life ceremony was held for fallen Officer Evan Dunn of the Golden Police Department on November 13th, 2024 at the Mission Hills Church in Littleton. Emergency responders honored him with a large procession to the church with the community coming out to honor him by lining the streets. Evan died on November 6th, 2024 when he was investigation an accident with officer Bethany Grusing on Hwy. 58 in Golden. They were both struck by a suspected DUI driver’s vehicle, and both were trapped underneath a vehicle. Officer Grusing was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and the Dunn died on scene. Evan was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Missouri Army National Guard and was selected to be trained as an Army aviator specializing in the Black Hawk helicopter. He was deployed to Fort Belvoir, VA on mission in service of the Pentagon where he served as a pilot and unit commander. He also later commanded a medevac unit in Springfield, MO. He served as a unit commander in the Colorado Army National Guard at the Buckley Space Force Base and achieved rank of Captain. He joined the Golden Police Department in 2022 and worked as a code enforcement officer, entered the police academy later and became a Golden Police Officer in June of 2024. Evan was born on September 9, 1991 and was 33 years-old, survived by his wife Annalise and their dog Remy. Information provided by Golden Police Department and Horan & McConaty.
