Golden Highway 58 Fatal MVA

On November 6th, 2024 at 16:53 Golden Fire Department responded to a MVA on Hwy. 58 between Washington St. & Ford St. in Golden. Jeffcom advised that two police officers were trapped underneath a vehicle at the accident scene. Chief 21 arrived with at least two-vehicles involved, needing heavy extrication and requested additional resources. Engine 21 arrived and started the extrication on two patients and Chief 22 advised that 2 additional patents needed medical and a 4th ambulance was requested. The accident happen when two Golden Police officers were outside of their patrol vehicle investigating a pervious accident on Hwy. 58, when both were struck by a suspected DUI driver’s vehicle and both were trapped underneath a vehicle. One officer was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries and the second officer was pronounced on scene. The Colorado State Patrol Vehicular Crimes Unit is in charge of the investigating of the accident and the driver was taken into custody. Hwy. 58 was shut down in both directions for several hours.
