Fort Collins Trapped MVC

At 15:45 on April 12th, 2024 Fort Collins 911 dispatched Poudre Fire Authority to the intersection of S. Shields St. and W. Mulberry St. for a motor vehicle collision. On scene Engine 1 reported a motor vehicle collision involving a cement truck and mini-van, established command and started triaging patients. Once Engine 1 began triage they discovered there was a patient trapped in one of the vehicles and requested an extrication response. While the extrication response was enroute, Engine 1 advised they had a yellow patient needing extrication from the mini-van and that Engine 1 would be medical group. Tower 1 and Rescue 4 arrived on scene and initiated extrication of the patient. Engine 3 arrived and assigned to assist Engine 1 with medical group. Engine 3 also established a water supply and pulled a protection line in the event one of the vehicles ignited. The patient was extricated at 16:04 and transported to a local area trauma center shortly after for further treatment. The collision is under investigation by Fort Collins Police Services.
