South Metro Brush Fire

On June 24th, 2024 at 19:50 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a small brush fire at 9750 Foothills Canyon Blvd. in Highlands Ranch. PIO 12 arrived to a confirmed brush fire spreading with two trees on fire between Thunder Ridge High School and the King Soopers. Battalion 1 arrived to a small moving grass fire and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Tower 18 arrived and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and Engine 16 easbalished the water supply to Tower 18. The fire was quickly put under control and crews started overhaul on hot spots. No injuries were reported and no structures were lost or threatened. SMFR investigators reported that the cause may be due to fireworks. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
