West Metro House Fire

On November 2nd, 2024 at 12:20 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire at 44 Quay St. in Lakewood. Engine 3 arrived to a working fire with heavy fire showing from the Alpha side from a medium size two-story residential, pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack and the primary search with Medic 2 and Medic 3. Engine 7 secured the water supply to Engine 3. District 2 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Firefighters found unstable floor and relocated outside for a short time before going back inside. The fire was put under control at 13:11 and crews worked an extended overhaul. The fire caused extensive damage to the basement and kitchen, including burning through the kitchen floor. The residents were home at the time of the fire and were able to get out without injury.
