West Metro Garage Fire

On December 1st, 2024 at 14:22 West Metro Fire Rescue Engine 3 was dispatched to a garage fire in the 400 block of S. Garrison St. in Lakewood. Engine 3 showing a large header from the station and Jeffcom upgraded the call to a confirmed structure fire and advised that the garage is not attached to the house. Engine 3 arrived to a detached garage with heavy fire from the roof, pulled a 2 1/2 with access issues and the main building in danger. Medic 3 assisted with fire attack and search, Engine 4 secured the water supply to Engine 3. Engine 8 pulled a 2nd line for structure protection with Engine 7.  Tower 8 assisted with the fencing to gain access and District 2 arrived in command with defensive operations. Crews were able to get the fire under control at 14:56 and contained to the garage with minor damage to the home. The garage and the two vehicles inside were a total loss. The fire was caused when the homeowner tried to jumpstart one of the vehicles, the jumper cable ignited and started the fire. No injuries were reported.
