Wind Turbine Collapse & Fire

On January 11th, 2024 around 08:00 Sterling Emergency Communications Center (SECC).dispatched Peetz Fire Protection District and Cook Fire Protection District to a wind tower that was on fire after it had collapsed about a quarter mile north of Logan County Rd. 78 and Logan County Rd. 65 close to the Colorado-Nebraska state line. No reported injuries. The fire was started when oil and grease from the generator caught fire after the towers collapse to the ground.
