Mountain View Hale Bale Fire

On January 10th, 2024 at 12:01 Weld County Regional Communications Center dispatched Mountain View Fire Rescue and Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District to a reported large vegetation fire at I-25 and Weld County Rd. 28 with multiple callers. Crews arrived to a large hay bale fire east of I-25 on County Rd. 28 and started fire control. The fire burned into the night and was monitored for hot spots into the several days as the pile steadily burned down. Weld County Rd. 28 was closed in both directions during the fire operations.
