At 08:45 on February 23rd, 2024 Pueblo 911 Communications Center (City of Pueblo Police & Fire Dispatch) dispatched Pueblo Fire Department to the 3100 block of Baltimore Ave. on a reported residential structure. A 9-1-1 caller reported that there was white smoke coming from the basement of the home and that they heard an explosion as well. Engine 32 arrived on scene to find a single family residence with nothing showing and began investigating. While working a 360 on the home, the door on the delta side of the building was found with smoke charged inside. Upon entry, Engine 32 determined a working fire in the basement of the home and Engine 35 caught a hydrant with a 3” line laying into Engine 32 for water supply. Firefighters from Engine 32 struggled making access into the basement due to the heavy smoke conditions. Truck 51 was able to open up a basement window on the Bravo side of the home venting some of the smoke. This allowed engine 32 to make quick access to the fire and with water on the fire they made a quick knockdown. Units remained on scene for an hour ventilating the house and checking for extension.
