South Metro Animal Rescue

On August 7th, 2024 around 18:35 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a animal rescue at 2036 S. Dayton St. to assist Arapahoe County Animal Control on scene with injured cat struck in a pipe. Engine 21 and Medic 21 arrived and assisted animal control with the rescue of a kitten that was stuck inside a drain and crews attempted multiple strategies, when they decided to use a quick attack line to push the kitten out of the drain. After successfully rescuing the kitten from the drain it was examined to have 2 broken legs and the kitten was safely taken cared for by Arapahoe County Animal Control.
