Aurora Garage Fire
At 07:32 on January 7th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported garage fire in the 2200 block of S. Oakland Way. Engine 4 arrived to a two-story multi-family with a working fire with row of detached garages with flames and smoke showing and pulled a line in fast attack and declared a working structure fire and additional resources were dispatched. Crews found flames from the back of 2 garages, about 10 feet away from a row of occupied two-story residences. The quick action prevented the homes from being damaged and fire was controlled 7 minutes after the initial 911 call. The additional responding units were cancelled, and crews worked for about 45 minutes to fully extinguish hot spots. The structure holds 7 garages, 3 of which sustained fire and smoke damage, and 2 vehicles inside also sustained damage. No injuries occurred and the fire was accidental, caused by an electrical problem. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
