Poudre Engine 6 Accident
Poudre Engine 6 Accident
On January 18th, 2026 Poudre Fire Authority responded to an extrication accident on E. Hwy. 14 after a driver lost control of their vehicle, left the roadway, and was trapped. After the patient was safely transported from the accident, Engine 6 was blocking traffic for responders as crews completed cleanup operations. While fully parked with emergency lights on, a vehicle traveling too fast for the road and weather conditions crashed into the rear of the engine. Despite the driver seeing the emergency scene in advance, they were unable to stop in time. The vehicle involved also had tires with inadequate tread for the conditions. Firefighters routinely work from the rear of fire engines during emergency responses while loading and unloading hose, tools, and equipment and extremely fortunate that no firefighters, police, or members of the community were injured. This is the second time Engine 6 has been hit at an emergency scene during snowy conditions in the past year. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority
