At 17:45 on September 5th, 2026 the eastern I-70 corridor was dispatched to a reported structure fire on S. County Rd. 145 in Strasburg. Multiple 911 calls were received reporting a working fire in a barn with multiple other structures threatened. First arriving Battalion 91 sized up two outbuildings on fire along with multiple rolled hay bales and exposures. Engine 81 pulled one attack line with Engine 92 pulled a second line. Multiple tenders supplied water to the attack apparatus. The loafing shed that was involved in the fire contained a significant fuel load which required extensive overhaul. The “snozzle” elevated master stream on Engine 81, which has only been in-service for a couple of months, was also utilized for fire suppression. Fire suppression and overhaul continued for several hours. Chief 81 conducted the scene investigation and determined that the fire was accidental due to an electrical overload.
