Aurora Grass Fire

On February 2nd, 2026 around 13:00 Aurora Fire Rescue was alerted to a grass fire at 17200 E. Kentucky Ave. at the Mountain View Park. Aurora 911 advised that callers reported a tennis court sized grass fire near the playground. Smoke was visible from a couple miles away as crews responded. Engine 9 arrived and advanced a hose line and prevented flames from spreading to a nearby residential fence and trees. Engine 8 and Brush 8 assisted with extinguishing hot spots. No injuries occurred and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
