Around 05:30 on April 4th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched by Aurora 911 with receiving several reports of a house fire in the 900 block of N. Idalia Circle. Engine 5 could see flames when they left the station, and the incident was upgraded to a working structure fire response. Upon arrival, Engine 5, Ladder 5 and Battalion 1 observed a large volume of fire consuming the attached two car garage and heavy smoke showing from the eaves. An aggressive fire attack, searches of the home and vertical ventilation began immediately. All searches of the home were clear, no injuries occurred, and the incident was under control within 30-minutes. Lithium-ion batteries and propane cylinders were damaged during the fire, and the Hazardous Materials Team mitigated those dangers. The batteries were placed in overpack containers to prevent them from entering thermal runaway and burning, and the propane cylinders were emptied into a flare.
This accidental fire was caused by an electrical failure during lithium-ion battery charging in the garage. Two adults were displaced. Information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
