Schwachheim Fire

The Schwachheim Fire in Las Animas County was reported on April 12th, 2026 approximately 14:45. The fire is burning within the Lake Dorothey State Wildlife Area just north of Lake Maloya on the Sugarite Canyon State Park. The fire has burned 1,582 acres as of April 20th, 2026 and 90% containment. The Colorado Type 3 Incident Management Team assumed management on April 15th, 2026.
