Aurora House Fire

On July 6th, 2026 at 00:54 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a reported fence and house burning in the 13500 block of E. Center Ave. First arriving Engine 4 observed a large volume of fire and smoke showing from an attached two car garage, extending into the front yard and auto exposing the Bravo-1 exposure. Engine 4 advanced a 2.5″ attack line and immediately protected the exposure while knocking down the garage fire. Battalion 5 assumed command and Battalion 2 was the incident safety officer. Engine 2 laid in from S. Wheeling St. and E. Center Ave. and pulled a backup 1.75″ attack line, Ladder 2 conducted a primary search of the home and Ladder 9 conducted vertical ventilation. All searches were clear and a second 1.75″ line was stretched as crews extinguished fire in the attic. The incident was placed under control within 20 minutes and companies remained on scene for a few hours overhauling and assisting investigators. One firefighter sustained a minor injury, was transported to the hospital and is doing ok. The home was unoccupied so no residents are displaced. Investigators were unable to determine what caused the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
