On July 16th, 2026 North Metro Fire Rescue District held a traditional push-in ceremony for their new Engine 61 at Station 61 in Broomfield. The new Engine 61 (U-26) is a Pierce Velocity with a 1500 GPM pump and 500 gallons of water tank with foam. The new Engine 61 is the first of the department’s apparatus to carry a dedicated fire service bell that will be transferred from engine to engine throughout its lifetime. The bell will be engraved at each transition, creating a lasting record of the firefighters, communities, and generations of service it represents. The former Engine 61 (U-16), responded to nearly 16,000 emergencies, traveled more than 77,000 miles, and faithfully served the Broomfield community since May of 2019. After reconditioning, U-16 will continue answering the call as a reserve unit. Additional information provided by North Metro Fire Rescue District
