Aurora Residential Structure Fire

Around 19:15 on August 10th, 2026 Aurora Fire Rescue Engine 8 was driving westbound on Alameda Ave. near I-225 when they noticed a column of smoke in the air and drove toward it to investigate the source. As they arrived in the 11500 block of E. Alaska Ave. callers began reporting the incident to Aurora911. Engine 8 found two homes on fire and deployed a hose line to control a large volume of exterior fire. That action also prevented the lesser involved home from sustaining more damage. Battalion 5 assumed command, Ladder 2 conducted a primary search of the home with the largest volume of fire assisted by Engine 2 with a hose line on the interior. Due to extreme heat inside the structure firefighters conducted vertical ventilation. Searches of both homes were clear, and the incident was placed under control within 20-minutes of arrival. Significant damage to one home and major damage to a second home. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Seven adults were displaced and being assisted by the American Red Cross.
