On August 11th, 2026 approximately 15:30 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a reported house fire in the 18100 block of E. Harvard Ave. While crews were responding, Aurora911 received additional information that a back deck was on fire and flames were spreading to the roof, prompting a working structure fire response. First-arriving Engine 9 and Ladder 9 found no visible smoke or fire from the street and were directed to the backyard, where flames were actively spreading up the exterior siding and into the eaves. Ladder 9 used a fire extinguisher to slow the spread while Engine 9 advanced a hose line to the backyard and quickly knocked down the fire. Crews then opened portions of the interior and exterior walls to check for hidden fire extension. Searches of the home were clear, and the incident was placed under control within 20 minutes of arrival. The fire and water damage to exterior siding and damage to an interior wall and ceiling.
