Aurora Mobile Home Fire

On August 28th, 2026 around 10:11 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to multiple reports of two mobile homes on fire with possible parties trapped in the 15000 block of E. Colfax Ave. While enroute, Ladder 5 observed a large dark column of smoke and upgraded to a working fire. When they arrived on scene, they observed one mobile home that was heavily involved and fire had extended to the adjacent home. Battalion 1 assumed command while next arriving Engine 2 initiated fire attack approximately 6 minutes after the initial 911 call was received. Due to multiple reports of parties trapped in both homes, crews conducted thorough primary and secondary searches of the primary structure and both exposure structures. All searches were clear and negative. It was later learned that the homes are abandoned. Crews had water on the fire and the fire under control in the primary fire structure within 10 minutes of the call. The fire was placed under control within 20 minutes. The fire caused extensive damage to the primary home and moderate damage to the adjacent home. No one was injured during the fire, and the cause is under investigation at this time.
