Denver Commercial Structure Fire

On August 19th, 2026 Denver Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire at 1570 N. Clarkson St. at the historic Denver Turnverein Dance Center. Fire crews arrived and found fire in the basement area. No injuries were reported and the fire was reported be caused from an electrical fire originating from old wiring in the basement. The building was originally constructed in 1921 by the Coronado Club as a dance hall, but the club went bankrupt and the the building was sold to the Denver Turnverein in 1922 and is one of Colorado’s oldest continuously operating ballrooms.
