Firefighters from Elbert Fire Protection District took advantage of the cold and snowy weather on November 15th, 2014 to hone their response to wildland fires. The department used part of their monthly training to conduct a tabletop exercise simulating the response to a fast moving wildland fire in the southern part of their district. Firefighters considered location, terrain, resources, weather conditions, automatic aid, mutual aid, evacuations and the use of Elbert County’s Office of Emergency Management during the scenario.
