Patrick Anderson Memorial The funeral for Patrick Anderson of the Denver Police Department was held at the St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Denver on February 16th, 2010 followed by a procession to Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge. Patrick was 55 years-old and survived by his wife Annmarie and 2 daughters.

Pancake Breakfast The Plateau Valley Fire Protection District held their annual pancake breakfast at Station 91 in Collbran on July 4th, 2009. The community was invited out to enjoy breakfast before parting in the annual Collbran Independence Day Parade. The Collbran Marshal and Colorado State Parks also participated in the parade.

Inter-Canyon Open House Inter-Canyon Fire Protection District held an open house on June 20th, 2009 at Station 1. The department invited the community to come out to meet with the local firefighters, check out the apparatus, learn safety information and submit an application to volunteer. The department covers 55 square miles in Jefferson County and has five stations.

Water Rescue Training On June 6th and June 7th, 2009, firefighters from around the Grand Valley participated in water rescue training along the Colorado River in Grand Junction. Firefighters worked with ropes, rescue boards and flotation devices in order to hone their skills reaching victims and extracting them from the river.

Polar Plunge 2008 The Inaugural Special Olympics Colorado Polar Plunge “Freezin’ for a Reason” was held on November 15th, 2008 with 209 plungers that came out to brave the cold temperatures at Chatfield Reservoir in Littleton. 28 teams of plungers including 12 law enforcement agencies.  The event raised $55,000 for the 10,000 athletes of Special Olympics Colorado.
