Elizabeth Fire Protection District was founded in 1947 as the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department after a devastating fire at the Jones Motor Company. As an all-volunteer organization made up of community members and business owners, they utilized donated equipment and apparatus to provide fire suppression services to the Elizabeth area.

Elizabeth Fire Protection District is also know as Elizabeth Fire Rescue and Elizabeth Fire District.
