Fort Collins Fire Department

Fort Collins Fire Department was originally formed as the Fort Collins Hook and Ladder Company in 1880 in Larimer County (Colorado), and become the Fort Collins Volunteer Fire Department in 1888. In 1915 the named changed to the Fort Collins Fire Department (FCFD). In 1938 the Fort Collins Rural Protective Association was formed to provide fire protection to rural areas surrounding the city, before becoming the Poudre Valley Fire Protection District (PVFPD) in 1950. In 1981, the Fort Collins Fire Department and Poudre Valley Fire Protection District merged to form the Poudre Fire Authority (Colorado).
