A-1 Paramedics Colorado Springs

A-1 Paramedics Colorado Springs, also known as Colorado Springs Paramedics opened in 1979, becoming the counties’ first Advanced Life Support provider. During this time, A-1 Paramedics had operations in Boulder, Longmont, Grand Junction, Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Las Cruces, Roswell, and Tucumcari New Mexico. In the 1980’s, A-1 Paramedics co-served the Colorado Springs community with Mountain Valley Ambulance, a Basic Life Support provider; who later became Professional Paramedic Services. In the mid 1988, A-1 Paramedics bought out Professional Paramedics, shortly after St Francis Hospital, then at the corner of Pikes Peak Ave and Institute St, started their own ambulance service, thus hiring mostly former Professional Paramedic’s employees. But again, 4 years after opening their operation, A-1 Paramedics bought out St Francis Hospitals’ ambulance service, becoming the sole provider for the city yet again. In 1991, American Medical Response opened and sought to bring together the fragmented private ambulances companies across the United States and in 1993 bought all of A-1 Paramedics operations.
