Colorado State Forest Service

Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS), established in 1955 and is a service and outreach agency of the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. Headquartered in Fort Collins, CSFS provides staffing for the Division of Forestry within the Colorado Department of Natural Resources. CSFS maintains 19 field offices that are located in Alamosa, Boulder, Broomfield, Canon City, Durango, Fort Collins, Fort Morgan, Franktown, Golden, Granby, Grand Junction, Gunnison, La Junta, La Veta, Montrose, Salida, Steamboat Springs, Walden  & Woodland Park.

Prior to 2012, CSFS was Colorado’s primary agency responsible for wildfire command and control. Those responsibilities were transferred to Colorado Department of Public Safety’s Division of Fire Control and Prevention on July 1, 2012.
