Chacra Working Residential Fire

At 16:41 on February 9th, 2023 Garfield County Emergency Communications Authority dispatched Colorado River Fire Rescue and Glenwood Springs Fire Department to a reported residential structure fire in the 44000 block of Hwy. 6 between New Castle and Glenwood Springs. Multiple callers driving by on Hwy. 6 reported black smoke coming from the front door of the house and a truck in the driveway. Additional callers on I-70 were reporting smoke and flames coming from the house. Battalion 40 requested an all call for a working structure fire to start backfill and move ups. Battalion 40 arrived on scene of a single-story, single-family residence, with a working fire and assumed command and started a 360 walk-around. Engine 71 was the first due engine and was assigned fire attack in the offensive strategy. Engine 61 arrived on scene and assigned to fire attack, making an aggressive interior attack. Engine 43 assigned to nurse Engine 71 with tank water and perform a primary search. Tender 61 assigned as water supply and setup two drop-tanks for water shuttling and Ambulance 64 assigned to work for fire attack. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.
