South Metro Urban Interface Fire

On January 5th, 2026 at 13:38 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a vegetation fire in the open space by Big Dry Creek Park behind 5661 Glenstone Drive in Highlands Ranch. Crews arrived to a working vegetation fire was upgraded to a wildland urban interface fire due to the proximity of the fire to nearby homes, along with dry and windy conditions. The fire was put under control and crews worked on hot spots and was the fire was mapped at 2/10 of an acre by the SMFR Incident Dispatch Team. The SMFR Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause No injuries reported. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
