West Side Rural Fire Protection District

West Side Rural Fire Protection District (WSRFPD), covering 25 square miles in Hood River County (Oregon) including the areas of Columbia River Gorge & Hood River Valley.

West Side Fire District was originally the Rockford Fire Brigade in in the early 1940’s, and later members circulated petitions around the community to form a rural district and in 1948 the Rockford Rural Fire Protection District was formed. In November of 1949 petitions were circulated to property owners, proposing to change the name to the West Side Rural Fire Protection District, the vote passed, and the name changed in 1949.
