Aberdeen Fire Rescue (AFR), located in Brown County (South Dakota) including the areas of Aberdeen Regional Airport, Hardin, Lee Park, Melrose, Moccasin Creek, Northern State University & Rolling Hills.

Aberdeen Fire Rescue was originally formed in 1883 as three volunteer fire companies: two hose companies and one ladder company, and in 1890 all three companies disbanded after a dispute with the city fathers. The same year in 1890 the city started the Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department until 1909 when paid firemen were hired.
