On June 11, 2025 the Windsor-Severance Fire Rescue hosted a public push-in ceremony at Station 3 for its new 2025 Pierce Velocity Engine. This engine is similar to the older engine 403, with a few functionality upgrades at the request of the crew. The new engine is spec’d with a smaller water tank to allow for more compartment space, an interior compartment for ground ladders, lowered hosebed and an attack line off the rear of the engine. This apparatus is equipped with a 1500 GPM (Pierce PUC) Pump, 500-gal. water tank and 20-gal. foam cell. The former Engine 403 was sent to Station 2, in Severance to better fit the rural community needs.
During the ceremony one of the department’s Museum pieces, a 1925 Reo Speedwagon was present to honor its 100th Birthday. Typically the old engine will be used to “wet down” the new engine, however to commemorate the birthday for the Speedwagon this was amended. The Speedwagon was pumped while firefighters and children sprayed down the new engine before joining to dry it and push it in.
Once the engine had officially been pushed in, firefighters and community members joined to enjoy a birthday cake for the Speedwagon.
