Aurora North Norfolk Way Residential Fire
Aurora Residential Structure Fire
At 19:10 on August 12th, 2025 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 700 block of N. Norfolk Way. Aurora 911 advised that 911 callers reported seeing flames from the back patio of the home at that location. Firefighters responding from Station 5 just a half mile away saw a large plume smoke in the air, upgraded the incident to a working fire and additional resources were dispatched. Ladder 5 and Engine 5 arrived to a large volume of fire consuming the back of a bi-level home with flames extending to both floors, the attic, and a small detached structure in the backyard. Initial reports indicated that a person was trapped inside, and aggressive fire control and search efforts began immediately. Firefighters encountered extremely high heat and zero visibility inside so vertical ventilation was performed by Ladder 2. Several hose lines were needed to extinguish flames on the interior and exterior of the home, and the incident was placed under control within 20-minutes. All searches of the home were clear, all occupants safely evacuated, and no injuries occurred. 5 people, 4 dogs and 1 turtle were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Aurora Fire investigator determined the fire started on the back patio, spread inside the house and was accidental. Additional information provided by Aurora Fire Rescue
