Aurora Garage Fire

On July 4th, 2025 at approximately 19:15 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 2700 block S. Lewiston St. A heavy black smoke plume could be seen from most of the city. Units arrived on scene to find heavy fire coming from the garage. Firefighters were on scene about two hours extinguishing the fire, checking for hot spots and mopping up. A neighboring home suffered minor damage and the American Red Cross was called to assist displaced residents. No injures were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
