Boulder County Grass Fire

On March 10th, 2025 in the afternoon Mountain View Fire Rescue, Lafayette Fire Department, Boulder County Fire Management and Boulder County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly to a grass fire in the Brownsville area outside of Erie off Hwy. 119 on Billings Ave. just after noon. Crews arrived to a grass fire in a field with heavy winds which created a challenging situation, with the rapid and coordinated response, the fire was quickly extinguished. Investigators determined that the fire started by accident while someone was doing work with a handheld torch on a pipe. The fire was contained to approximately 2 acres.
