Byers Brush Fire

At 14:21 hours on August 6th, 2025 South Metro Fire Dispatch notified Byers Fire Protection District and Strasburg Fire Protection District of a reported outside fire on S. Country Rd. 193 in Byers. While enroute Dispatch updated units that active fire was visible through Live Video with a barn in close proximity. First arriving Chief 71 sized up a 100×100 fire in medium to heavy fuels, with no immediate exposure risks and a moderate rate of spread. The fire was quickly contained with crews remaining on-scene for approximately 30 minutes doing mop-up. The cause of the fire was determined to be a small child playing with matches.
