South Metro Structure Fire

At 12:04 on July 9th, 2025 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 6900 block of S. Garfield Way in Cherry Knolls. Engine 14 arrived to medium size single-story single-family with a working fire from Charlie side exterior and pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack. Engine 15 secured the water supply to Engine 14 and Medic 31 pulled a 2nd line to the Alpha side and started the primary search. Battalion 3 arrived and assumed command and assigned Medic 14 with medical. Crews found fire spreading into the attic space and Ladder 12 went to the roof to perform vertical vent. The fire was quickly put under control and crews started overhaul. One occupant was home at the time and was able to safely evacuated with their pets. The SMFR Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
