On February 25th, 2025 just after 08:30 Rye Fire Protection District was sent to the area of Patsy Circle and Pinto Drive in Colorado City on an illegal burn. Chief 204 arrived in the area and found the illegal burn had spread to surrounding vegetation and was burning up the hillside towards some trees. Wind in the area was breezy and due to the risk and growing fire mutual-aid was requested from Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Division (ESD) for a Type 6 engine. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to approximately 2 acres and kept the fire from affecting the trees. Crews were on scene for over an hour mopping up the fire.
