California Wildland Fires

Colorado Strike Teams have been working on the California Fires with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control Incident Command Post (ICP) set up on the beach. The ICP functions as a small city, providing firefighters with everything they need, from meals to showers and any additional supplies needed as they head out into the field with the Upper Colorado River Interagency Fire Management Unit. The Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) continues to provide situational awareness including hot spot detection and mapping for multiple fires in the area. Deployed are Nine strike teams from Colorado, comprised of more than 50 engine crews, Colorado DFPC Engine 6121 Type 6 engine with 4 firefighters, 3 DFPC overhead staff, and the MMA with a pilot and 2 Mission Sensor Operators (MSOs). Colorado Strike Team 7 with Thornton and West Metro assigned to the Division Yankee and working 24 hour shifts alongside other fire departments from Colorado including Denver Engine 602 working tactical patrols near Malibu. Lefthand, Boulder Rural, and South Arkansas crews are working Division Charlie of the Palisades Fire, where they have been patrolling and assessing houses located closest to the fire, looking for smoldering embers and spot fires. Hudson is working the District Branch X-Ray (10), Division Zulu on 24-hour shifts to assist with the wildfire operations. Crews from Loveland, Eagle River and Colorado River have been working neighborhoods for defensive operations with protecting the Brentwood neighborhood which includes homes owned by several well-known celebrities including Arnold Schwarzenegger, LeBron James, and Dr. Dre. Mountain View Wildland Interface 202 have been a part of Colorado Strike Team 4 working the areas in Malibu with Denver Engine 601 on Division Mike at Palisades Fire. Castle Rock Brush 155 has been working on the Eaton Fire assigned hazard mitigation in neighborhoods to help make them safer for citizens to return to their properties.
