Mountain View Vehicle / Grass Fire

On June 16th, 2025 at 15:15 Mountain View Fire Rescue responded to a possible grass fire in a field west of Colliers Blvd. in Erie. Boulder County Communications reported a truck was stuck in a field along the decommissioned rail line, and a fire was showing underneath of the vehicle. Crews arrived on scene to a pick up truck fully engulfed and started the fire attack to stop the spread of the fire. The fire spread to about a quarter acre, including the vehicle and some discarded railroad ties. Crews continued mopping up the hotspots for about an hour after the fire was contained.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, no one was hurt, and no structures were threatened during this fire. Also, no evacuations were ordered. Additional information provided by Mountain View Fire Rescue
